If you lose your PDF certificate, you also lose access to two critical elements:
The seed required to decrypt your encrypted metadata.
The blockchain transaction ID, unless you wrote it down or saved it elsewhere.
You could still recompute the SHA-256 hash of your original file, but searching for a matching certificate on the blockchain without the transaction ID is extremely difficult. It would require scanning and comparing your file’s hash against potentially millions of blockchain transactions, which is a technically complex and computationally demanding task.
For this reason, we strongly recommend that you store your EMOZ certificate in a secure location, such as:
A trusted cloud storage (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox),
An encrypted USB drive,
Or a secure password manager with file storage.
Bottom line: do not lose your certificate. It is the key to verifying your ownership, and without it, full recovery is either impossible or extremely difficult.
