Can I prove ownership of my file without EMOZ in the future?

Yes! The system is specifically designed so that EMOZ is not a required third party once the certificate has been issued.

The PDF certificate you receive contains all the elements needed for independent verification:

  • The blockchain transaction ID, which points to the immutable on-chain record.

  • The decryption seed, which allows access to the encrypted metadata.

Anyone can verify your ownership by:

  1. Recomputing the SHA-256 hash of your original file.

  2. Comparing it to the fingerprint stored on the blockchain.

  3. Decrypting the metadata using the seed to confirm your full name, the SHA-256 hash of your email address, and your ownership declaration.

On top of that, each EMOZ certificate includes clear instructions on how to perform this verification independently. Even if you are not a technical person, any IT professional or subject matter expert would be able to understand that paragraph and use it to verify your certificate directly on the blockchain.

This means that even if EMOZ shuts down years or decades from now, your certificate will still be valid, verifiable, and self-contained—giving you a long-term, trustless proof of ownership.
